Curriculum Coordinator

Location: Ampthill with travel across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and occasional travel to Norwich

 We are looking to recruit an interim Curriculum Coordinator with the potential of an extension to a permanent role to provide support to our 4 delivery centres in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Norfolk. This will include; coordination of curriculum, examination processes and awarding organisations’ compliance and development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Being the single point of contact for all awarding organisation
  • Coordinating with external awarding organisations and overseeing internal quality assurance
  • Coordinating and managing external quality assurance visits
  • Ensuring quality standards are implemented to maintain direct claims status (DCS)
  • Ensuring all learners are registered in a timely and accurate manner

Learning Support Assistant

Salary:  £18,000 per annum/pro rata

Hours: Part time, 3 days per week (Monday to Wednesday 8.30am – 4.30pm) term time only (40 weeks per year)

We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistants who would welcome the opportunity to work at our Dunstable centre, providing 1:1 support to high needs learners with reading, writing and socialising with others as well as many other aspects of life at Develop.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the classroom tutor
  • Working with small groups and 1:1 support
  • Supporting literacy, numeracy and vocational subjects lessons
  • Help manage pupil behaviour
  • Help pupils to access the curriculum
  • Support students on their work experience
  • Be able to use a PC effectively and have good knowledge with using Microsoft e.g. word

Due to the specific support needs of one of the high needs students one of the positions is only suitable for male candidates, we are open to all gender applicants for the other position.

The successful candidates must be able to deal with challenging behaviour and be able to calm the learner down when upset.   The Learning Support Assistant must be able to build a rapport with this learner to help them engage in tasks and lessons and discover new hobbies.   A ‘can do’ attitude is essential, day to day tasks vary from working outside at our farm facility on the Horticulture course, to assisting in cooking lessons, to supporting in Maths and English lessons.

Both Learning Support Assistants will have the task of improving learner’s confidence, communication skills, independence skills and social abilities.

Previous experience in a school or education setting working with high needs learners is essential.  A driving license and access to a car would be beneficial but not essential.

IT Tutor

Part Time – 22.5 hours per week over 3 days

Based: Hitchin, Hertfordshire

We are looking to expand our current curriculum offer at our IT centre in Hitchin and are looking for IT Tutors to join our growing centre.  

About the role:

  • You will deliver IT qualifications from Key Stage 4 learners – young adults.
  • Working as part of a small specialist teaching team to deliver bespoke interventions for complex learners.

The successful candidate:

  • The ideal candidate would be a qualified and experienced tutor however we are willing to train the right candidate with industry experience
  • This role would be the ideal opportunity for an IT professional looking to get into teaching part time while still working in the IT industry.

Various Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Roles

Salary: £125.00 per day

Hours: Approximately 4 days over the academic year

Location: Bedfordshire

Internal Quality Assurer

We are looking for experienced IQAs in the following areas:

  • L1/L2 in Horticulture
  • L1/L2 in Construction
  • L1 in Art and Design

This is a great temporary opportunity for an experienced IQA to work on a self-employed basis or zero hours contract to carry out interim and final IQA (portfolio sampling, assessor observations, learner interviews and standardisation meetings) and to meet with the EQA on their annual visit.

The workload for the IQA is very desirable with less than 10 portfolios per subject, with only 2 portfolios for Art and Design.

Lead Internal Verifier

We are looking for a Lead Internal Verifier for Performing Arts with experience of BTEC processes and procedures to work on a self-employed basis or zero hours contract. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Lead IV looking to pick up some additional days work throughout the academic year.

There are 25-30 learners to sample for the Lead IV position.

Both positions will be supported by the Awarding Body Coordinator, Heads of Centre and Quality and Curriculum Manager.

About the successful candidate:

  • Competent in the subject area
  • Appropriate Internal Quality Assurance or Internal Verifier qualification (V1/TAQA, or equivalent)
  • Qualification at a minimum Level 2 in the subject area being IQA’d.
