Employer Engagement Officer

Salary:  Circa £23,500 plus performance related bonus scheme

Based: Ampthill, Bedfordshire

Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week

 Due to expansion we are looking for an Employer Engagement Officer with a proven track record of successful employer engagement who is able to maximise opportunity for growth.

The aim of this role is to identify and engage employers in Luton, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes that are willing to take work experience students and/ or engage in other employer led activities across the organisation.   Experience in cold calling/ sales is essential.

The role will initially be sourcing new employers to take work experience students and then will grow to employer engagement for the wider organisation so the ability to adapt your sales approach for different departments is required.

An IOSH or NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous as this will enable you to complete health and safety risk assessments at new employers or assist with health and safety visits for the Work Experience department during peak times.

Primary objectives of the role:

  • Responsible for targeted growth of our database of employers to maximise work experience choice both geographically and by sector
  • Cold call new employers in the local area to recruit employers to take work experience
  • Arrange meetings with new employers to discuss areas for joint working
  • Be the initial point of contact for employers and when necessary establish a link between them and the Partnership Manager
  • Attend networking events to promote Develop and its services

Health and Safety Field Officer

Salary:  Circa £23,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications

Based: Ampthill – working across Luton and Bedfordshire

Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week

 We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Field Officer to complete health and safety risk assessments for employers taking work experience students around Luton and Bedfordshire with occasional travel to Milton Keynes.

Knowledge of the Luton and Bedfordshire area would be beneficial.

A minimum of an IOSH qualification is required for this position however NEBOSH would be advantageous.  Basic IT skills are essential for this position as Health and Safety visits are completed on a tablet and uploaded to Develop’s database of employers, training will be given.

Primary objectives of the role:

  • Contact employers to arrange work experience visits
  • Carry out visits to employers following company guidance and rate in accordance with occupational risk and rating
  • Manage own diary to ensure health and safety visits are completed prior to the student attending placement
  • Liaise with Work Experience Administrators to communicate any issues with employers/ failed risk assessments.
  • Be vigilant in identifying Health and Safety, Safeguarding and/ or any other concerns to the safety of the work experience students

Work Experience Administrator

 We are looking for an efficient administrator to work in our busy Work Experience department liaising with employers to agree school/ college student placements.

Strong telephone communication and intermediate IT skills are essential for this role.

Knowledge of the Luton, Bedfordshire or Milton Keynes area would be beneficial.

IOSH and Health and Safety experience would be highly advantageous and would enable you to complete Health and Safety risk assessment visits to employers, salary will increase if you possess this qualification and experience.

Learning Support Assistant

Salary:  £18,000 per annum/pro rata

Hours: Full or Part time (4 or 5 days per week), term time only

Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant who would welcome the opportunity to work at our Bedford centre, supporting our 16-18 year old learners. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the classroom tutor
  • Working with small groups and 1:1 support
  • Supporting literacy, numeracy and vocational subjects lessons
  • Help manage pupil behaviour
  • Help pupils to access the curriculum
  • Support students on their work experience
  • Be able to use a PC effectively and have good knowledge with using Microsoft e.g. word

Applicants that are qualified or have previous experience in a school or education setting would be preferred however, we are willing to support the right candidate. Some experience of working with young people with learning difficulties and disability would also be advantageous. We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our Head Office in Ampthill, this fast paced role is key to the successful growth of the business.    Reporting into the CEO, you will work with the senior management team on the strategic plan for Develop and in your day to day role you will have the support of and line manage our Operations and Business Support Apprentice.  

This is a hugely rewarding role to source funding opportunities to enable Develop to continue to make an impact to the disadvantaged individuals we work with.   

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful bid writing and ideally would have experience of project management. Experience of working in the not-for-profit or education/ training sector would be highly beneficial.

IT Tutor

Circa £25,000 dependent upon qualifications and experience

Part Time – 22.5 hours per week over 3 days

Based: Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Develop is a not for profit organisation.  We deliver a variety of projects working with all ages ranging from organising work experience for school age children to employability skills for unemployed adults. We also manage a number of other training providers in Study Programme delivery to 16-18 year olds.  

We are looking to expand our current curriculum offer at our IT centre in Hitchin and are looking for IT Tutors to join our growing centre.  

About the role:

  • You will deliver IT qualifications from Key Stage 4 learners – young adults.
  • Working as part of a small specialist teaching team to deliver bespoke interventions for complex learners.

The successful candidate:

  • The ideal candidate would be a qualified and experienced tutor however we are willing to train the right candidate with industry experience
  • This role would be the ideal opportunity for an IT professional looking to get into teaching part time while still working in the IT industry.
  • Experience in working with learners with SEND is ideal but training will be given.
  • An assessors qualification would be advantageous.

Various Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Roles

Salary: £125.00 per day

Hours: Approximately 4 days over the academic year

Location: Bedfordshire

Internal Quality Assurer

We are looking for experienced IQAs in the following areas:

  • L1/L2 in Horticulture
  • L1/L2 in Construction
  • L1 in Art and Design

This is a great temporary opportunity for an experienced IQA to work on a self-employed basis or zero hours contract to carry out interim and final IQA (portfolio sampling, assessor observations, learner interviews and standardisation meetings) and to meet with the EQA on their annual visit.

The workload for the IQA is very desirable with less than 10 portfolios per subject, with only 2 portfolios for Art and Design.

Lead Internal Verifier

We are looking for a Lead Internal Verifier for Performing Arts with experience of BTEC processes and procedures to work on a self-employed basis or zero hours contract. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Lead IV looking to pick up some additional days work throughout the academic year.

There are 25-30 learners to sample for the Lead IV position.

Both positions will be supported by the Awarding Body Coordinator, Heads of Centre and Quality and Curriculum Manager.

About the successful candidate:

  • Competent in the subject area
  • Appropriate Internal Quality Assurance or Internal Verifier qualification (V1/TAQA, or equivalent)
  • Qualification at a minimum Level 2 in the subject area being IQA’d.
