The CONNECT programme has been designed by Develop in partnership with London Luton Airport. Using feedback and needs analysis from airport employers and the local authorities, Develop has put together a soft skills programme with the focus on developing a pipeline of informed young people ready for their first entry into the labour market.
To equip young people with the communication, resilience and team working skills needed to make the smooth transition from education into the workplace.
They will learn:
- The different types of communication
- What are the benefits of good communication?
- The positive impact good communication can have at school, at home and moving onto college/university or into the workplace.
And complete self discovery in:
- How they communicate?
- How people communicate with them?
- If they communicate well?
Importance of the programme
“Talents for the next generation” report has shown that more than half of UK employers believe that a lack of soft skills is resulting in a generation of young people who are not ready for work. The report found that 57% of employers do not see the level of communication skills, resilience and team working that young works need to succeed in the work place.
Develop is proud that the course has had such a fantastic influence on the students who have take part:
Improved Verbal Communication – 92% of students from Redborne Upper
Improved Written Communication – 81% of students from Stopsley High
Improved Self Confidence – 93% of students from Putteridge School
