Want to know more about the opportunities available in the IT sector?

This course will increase your knowledge of both the information technology sector and the creative industries that are linked to that sector. You will develop and refine your software and hardware skills and start to look into product development.

Course Description

This course has been designed to provide you with great insight into the range of careers available in the IT sector and the skills that will be needed. You will gain this knowledge by studying a broad range of units covering a number of different systems and types of software, before choosing the areas in which you would like to specialise.

On this course you have the choice of core and specialist units that include: The Online World External; Technology Systems; A Digital Portfolio; Creating Digital Animation; Creating Digital Graphics; Website Development; Installing and Maintaining Computer Hardware and Multimedia Products Development * (NB: units are subject to change).

Entry requirements

5 GCSE’s grades 9-3 (including English and maths)
Successful interview with course tutor

Qualification

BTEC First Extended Certificate in Information and Creative Technology

Before you are awarded your BTEC, your achievements will be assessed by a variety of methods including observation, written assignments and computer based exams.

Course Length

This course is delivered over one academic year (September – July)

What can I do next? Continue onto a level 3 course either at Develop or another provider, apply for an apprenticeship or seek employment.
