If you have an interest in working with computers, Information Technology (IT) or Information Communications Technology (ICT) but no qualifications, this course will help. It will give you a very good understanding and experience of the work involved in a wide range of careers in IT plus a good understanding of commonly used ICT applications and tools.
The main aim of the course is to give you the knowledge and skills needed to improve your confidence when using a computer. You will learn to use many of the current applications used in the workplace.
On the course, you will learn about: Imaging Software, Word Processing, Video Software, Mobile Devices, Desktop Publishing, Presentation Software, Designing Software and setting up an IT system.
If you are still at school you need to be aged between 14-16 years. If you have left school, you must be aged between 16-18 to enter a Study Programme. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but you will be given an informal interview.
Course start dates are flexible. NB: To start Level 2: you will need to have completed your Level 1 ITQ Diploma for IT Users.
Level 1 or Level 2 ITQ Users Certificate. Your achievements will be assessed by taking scenario based assignments.
Each course is delivered over one year.
What can I do next? If you have gained Level 1, you can take Level 2 and after Level 2, Level 3. Or you can enter employment – for example as a Data Entry Clerk – or decide to apply for an ICT Apprenticeship.
