Are you good with people and want to support and care for them when they are at their most vulnerable?
These Level 1 and 2 courses introduce you to the relevant roles within Health & Social Care and the responsibilities involved, enabling you to take control of your future and choose the career path that most appeals to you. At Level 2, you will also gain valuable practical experience.
Through these courses you will develop the knowledge and awareness of the types of health and care providers within the Health and Social Care sector. You will learn about: safeguarding; communication; health and safety; patient development – and disability awareness, including the specific needs of each type of disability. Specialised areas of learning include: sensory loss; mental health; learning disability and dementia.
If you are still at school you need to be aged between 14-16 years.
If you have left school, you must be aged between 16-18 to start a Study Programme.
Level 1: An interest in working with vulnerable people is essential. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but you will be given an informal interview.
Level 2: A Level 1 qualification or relevant GCSEs.
Start dates are flexible.
NCFE CACHE Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Setting
NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
NB, Level 2 requires a practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
This course is delivered over one full year.
What can I do next? From Level 1, you can move onto a Level 2 Health and Social Care course or from Level 2 progress to a Level 3 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care.
