Do you enjoy working on your own/your friends’ hair, nails and makeup? If you would like to learn enough to consider taking a job in the hair and beauty sector, this course will provide what you need.

The course is designed to give you a good overview and practical experience of all the different areas within the Hair & Beauty profession.

Course Description

You will be introduce to a number of Hair and Beauty techniques including: Skin Care; Hand Care;

Basic Make-Up Application; Nail Art Application; Photographic Make-up and even specialists styles such as Asian Bridal Make-Up.

You will also learn and practice the basics of how to cut/style both mens’ and womens’ hair – as well as how to create and present a professional image in a salon.

Entry requirements

If you are still at school you need to be aged between 14-16 years.

If you have left school, you must be aged between 16-18 to start a Study Programme. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but you will be given an informal interview.

An interest in working in the hair and beauty sector is essential.

Course start dates are flexible.

Qualification

Entry Three and Level One Award and Certificate

Before you are awarded your Entry Three and Level One Award and Certificate, your achievements are assessed during a work placement or in a simulated workplace environment. You will also have gathered observations and evidence of the actual work you have done for your portfolio.

Course length

This course is delivered over a year.

Progression

What can I do next? Apply for a Level 2 qualification for example: Beauty; Nail Technician; Holistic Therapies; Hairdressing and access to salon work – or a Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship
