Careers Inspiration in Schools – Accelerating your Future with Vauxhall
This exciting new project is being held at Vauxhall Motors Luton on the 5th & 13th December 2017 involving 98 year 9 students. Students from two Luton High Schools, Lea Manor and Lealands, will gain an insight into the world of work, the recruitment process and the importance of communication skills. Students will be treated to a tour of the plant will experience a practical task on a real van with the support of Vauxhall graduates.
The schools involved will then be able to bring back real life experiences and lesson resources to the classroom and embed these into the curriculum supporting future students with their employability skills. This project will also raise awareness of how academic subjects’ link with what employers are looking for in their future employees and help break down industry stereotypes.
Futures, The National Careers Service and Develop are working collaboratively to provide schools with this Careers Inspiration in Schools Programme. It is hoped that we will be able to offer this programme to other local schools and employers to enhance the school curriculum and offer real life and employability skills to students.
If you are an employer and would like to be linked to a local school and are able to offer similar opportunities then please contact Jo Campion, at Develop on 01525 408086 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
